MapisBee CR: A Family's Passion for Beekeeping and Nature
MapisBee CR is a family project deeply rooted in a love for nature and beekeeping. The name merges Mariola and Apis Mellifera, symbolizing the relationship between stinging and stingless bees and underscoring their vital role in biodiversity and environmental balance.
The family's journey began in 1979, when Mr. Paul Peña graduated from the Santa Clara Agricultural Technical College. It was there that he developed his expertise in beekeeping and agronomy. Initially, he kept a few hives as a hobby, producing honey for his family. By 2007, hive collection expanded, increasing honey production, and selling in wine bottles to neighbors and friends.
In 2013, they decided to focus on protecting bees and conducting their first rescues Since then, in collaboration with many fire departments in Guanacaste they have completed over 300 rescues and thereby helping homes, offices, and hotels.
They aim to raise awareness about the critical importance of bees in our ecosystem while showcasing the many benefits of hive-derived products.
Their products are 100% raw and has no extra ingredients, water, coloring, or flavoring.

Their honey will take on the flavors of the necter that the bees collect. Costa Rican honey is famous for the rich floral overtones of the jungle.
