Yuu Lee Family Shop are experts in handmade purses, bags, and rugs made from natural local wool. They use plants to make the dyes for the wool and each one is an original creation. The weaving techniques using a handoperated loom are generationally taught and they pride themselves for the crafting of each piece.
They use traditional as well as contemporary designs.
Our project will develop a premier rescue and education center on Cozumel Island for local apis and stingless Melipona bees. Bees will promote mangrove growth who provide essential nutrients for the famous, but struggling, nearby coral reefs.
Empower special needs students in Cozumel to connect with nature through bee conservation and herb gardening by tending their own hives and gardens at their school. The hives will house the Melipona Beechei, a bee unique to this region who cannot sting and whose honey has amazing health benefits.
For generations, the Maleku tribe in Costa Rica has created medicinal teas harvested from the jungle. We aim to support them in generating commercial teas to supplement their tourist-centric earnings.
