These ceramic jugs and pitchers are handcrafted in the traditional "Barro Negro" style, originating near Oaxaca, Mexico.
Using clay they make from local soils, skilled artisans expertly mold them to the desired shape and after firing them in a special wood oven with lots of smoke that penetrates the clay. They then hand polish them to a unique deep black finish.
The pitcher is 11 inches (28cm) tall, 7.5 inches (19cm) wide and just 3.5 inches (9cm) deep. It features two level spots, allowing for both vertical and decorative 30 degree angled placement.
The jug is 7 inches (18cm) tall and 6 inches (15cm) in diameter.
The water pitcher is 8 inches (20cm) tall and 7 inches (18 cm) in diameter.
The creamer or single-cup pitcher is 3 1/5 inches (8cm) tall and 3 inches (7cm) in diameter
Unlike most ceramics, these pieces are made for both practical use and display. The jug can hold up to 36 ounces (1 liter), creamer hold 8 ounces (200ml), both pitchers can hold up to 60 ounces (1.8 liters).
